Personal Protection~never leave home without it

(not talkin condoms either) Decided to get a varitey of concealed carry options. The smallest ,lightest and new addition to the collection. Ruger LCP w/crimson trace (.380 auto)Yeah, I know itsy bitsy, but I wouldnt want to get tapped with its 90gr jhp hydro shock. No excuse not to carry now. Went to the local gunshow today and did my part to help stimulate the economy. Looked at the sig p238 and kel tec P3at, the ruger was hands down the nicest finish, class act. and the lightest.
Can say now the assualt rifle/ammo shortage is over. Saw pallets of 1,000 round boxes for 9mm,.223, .357, 7.62, /300win, /.45 etc...at least 300-400 complete AR15 platform, many varities, AR parts out the wazoo. Was limited AK rifles and parts. Had to work today, so could not spend more than 3 hrs otherwise, would have been there all day, like a kid in a candy store.

You saw the Sig P238 and didn't like it?

Actually don't think I have ever seen/shot a sig I didnt like. If I was 5.9 or taller, would not be a problem, at 5.6 , wanted the smallest/lightest could find without going lower than a .38 cal. With a tucked in t-shirt or just shorts-no shirt, this lil ruger will not print. In not way dissin the sigs, love em.

edit: also, this LCP is less than 3/4 of an inch wide. Like .71 or something like that.

The best gun you can own is the one you have on you!
Many will underestimate the rise in crime that is coming, be armed, be vigilant!

I'm surprised that you found a LCP in stock. It was my understanding that dealers still can't hold stock on LCPs, they have to order from Ruger. Evidently Ruger is getting caught up on production.

What about availability of .380 Auto ammo?

Funny, I just picked one up off a buddy last week. He wanted the Sig and I wanted the LCP. It's in a #2 blackhawk in the pocket holster as I type and I haven't been without it yet... Looked at the Crimson Trace the other day but wasn't sure how much it would add to the size in pocket.

Nice

Pocket holsters should clip to the seam of the pocket like a knife to keep them in place IMHO. I don't like the draw on pocket holsters from what I've seen. Inventors: this is your chance: innovate an accessory for a popular product: make a ruger lcp holster which doesn't suck, and/or can fire from concealment without the BATF finding out about it.(without it being unsafe to carry with keys in your pocket for bonus points)

I had one of these on order for over six months online, but recently canceled the order because the price on gunbroker dropped to near enough what I was willing to pay for it with an unknown wait for delivery ($281). Nice pics, thanks for that.

edit: $281 w/o crimson sight obviously.

Stealinator, fascinating little weapon, I've never considered such a gun to carry or given much thought to any gun that size.
It's like a modern SA derringer...I can imagine 380 hydroshock used up close would be very effective.
Some basic questions about this weapon
Mag capacity?
Easy breakdown/cleaning?
Range?
I just might have to investigate these smaller, easy to conceal guns.
The smallest gun I have is an older 22 Taurus revolver w/3.5" barrel..HA!

Good choice I would take the Ruger over a Kel-tec any day.

Breaks down and cleans just like any other pistol. Out of all the little 380's think this was the only one that had a slide lock, though you have to push it up manualy and does not lock open on last round ( dont know why, they should have followed through with this in design) Very accurate for its intended use. I would say only good 7-15 yards. Its intended use would be 0-7 yards, max. Holds 6 & 1 in the chamber. Real light, forget I have it on me at times. Of course, no saftey. Double action trigger, every shot. Takes a bit getting used to the trigger pull. Superb finish on this pistol. Gonna try and break it in tomorrow. Side note, I where size small gloves, so of course is fairly comfortible in my hand. Basically got it so that I always have an option in CC.

Ha ha! Great choice! Just a couple days ago I posted a pic of my LCP with the Crimson Trace laser as well. Very nice little pistols, IMO. I might add that since there is no safety, and each shot is double action, they made the trigger pull weight 8 lbs, so even though the gun is light, the pull is heavier than most full size weapons.

I owned one of the original Kel-Tec's but traded it in for a PF-P. just about a 1/2 inch longer and higher, the PF-9 carries just as easily but gives me 8 rounds of 9mm. My PF-9 has functioned flawlessly with over 500 full power loads through it.

The LCP is a decent gun...Ruger copied a good gun to start with so it's not surprising but I have more faith in the 9mm than the 380.

I like those little revolvers in .22 WMRF but I think they really work better with a longer barrel. So I bought one of the Mini Masters. 4" barrel with dual cylinders. I can practice with .22 LR but carry with the Magnum cylinder. I've shot a few reactive targets with first the 22 LR cylinder and then the Magnum one and there was a BIG difference. I wouldn't be happy to carry it as my primary but as a BUG it is darn nice. Fits right in the inside pocket of my 511 IDPA vest.

My primary will continue to be a .44 Special but this little BUG has given me a realistic second gun.

How are you liking that PF9? any more info? it is actually in my to get list. Only saw one at the show, also the color I wanted, OD. But funds were two tight , saw 3 pistols that I wanted to buy. LCP, PF-9 and Nighthawk Custom T3A 1911. Only had the $ for one otherwise would have bought them all.
